After we lost our 15 year old beloved Border Collie/Lab, Rocky in March of 2011, our home just wasn’t the same. After several months of grieving and noticing how quiet it was in our home, we adopted Oliver in August 2011. Oliver was a 3-year old Chesapeake Bay/Choc. Lab Mix and was adopted as a puppy from the WAHS. After his first owner couldn’t keep him he ended up back at the Human Society. Oliver was there approximately one week before we came to look for our new “fuzzy son.” Oliver was a bit shy at first, but quickly settled into our home and he adopted us as his new family. Ollie’s former owner must have loved him as much as we do, because Oliver’s behavior was perfect from the day we brought him home. He knew the routine for going outside, loves to play ball, and showed us the many tricks he had learned since he was a puppy. We are so very blessed to have him in our lives and know that our former dog Rocky would be happy that we gave another shelter dog a second chance.
Oliver loves children and meeting new “fuzzy friends.” He recently had a “play-date” with his new friend, Pita who is also a rescued pet. We look forward to many more years of fun, companionship and love from Oliver. Thank you to everyone at the Washington Area Humane Society for helping us find the newest member of our family. It’s through your hard work and dedication that make adopting a pet one of the best things anyone can do.
