Our vision is for all animals to have a valued life and a loving home.

Mission Statement
To provide shelter, safety, and care for the abandoned and abused animals of Washington County with the goal of placing them in forever homes.

Important Facts:

  • The WAHS is 100% funded by private donations
  • Intakes on average 600 animals annually
  • Offers life-saving services to over 6500 community pets a year including spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost clinics, emergency boarding, fostering, humane investigations, respite medical care, and a pet food bank.
  • Over 300 abuse, neglect, and abandonment cases are investigated each year
  • Offers a low-cost veterinary clinic that serves over 1500 community pets each year with vaccine clinics and affordable spay/neuter surgeries
  • Operates a Pet Food Bank which distributes over 40,000 pounds of food to 1500 plus community pets
  • The past three year live release rate is 94%
  • On average 99% of the intakes are from Washington County, PA
