Hi, it is Buttons, Pandi, and Cuddles Holmes. We
would like to tell you about our girl Amanda Rose
Holmes. Every year her high school, South Fayette, has a
food drive for the Washington Area Human Society. This was
the 3rd year, wow !!!! We made 3 trips to the shelter with
truck loads of pet supplies.
Also this holiday season, me (Buttons) turned 8 years old.
When I was a puppy (8 weeks) I was left on the side of the
road with my 3 brothers and 1 sister. It was a cold February
night and we would like to thank the Washington Area Human
Society for having their doors open for us, the discarded
and unwanted ones.
My human mom (Maria Holmes) says I am her soul mate! The
Washington Area Human Society gives hope when hope seems
lost. Please think about adoption because with every life
that comes into yours, your heart will grow. We must always
remember to do small things with great love because many
small things turn into great successes. May this valentines
day bring true forever homes to the animals.

Maylea Ankrom of
Washington celebrated her 11th birthday on January 19th at Alpine
Lanes and instead of gifts for herself, she asked all of her friends
to bring gifts for the animals at our shelter. Maylea made a
wonderful contribution of dog food, cat food, treats, litter and
also over $100.00 in monetary donations. Our animals send a
big Thank You to Maylea and all of her friends for the generous
donation.

Pets for Vets! |
| |
A new program has been developed by Suzi Smith of 84
Fitness to help pair up our US veterans with some of the veteran
dogs at the Washington Area Humane Society. The veteran dogs or cats
are free when the soldiers present their military ID. They are also
given a free clinic membership as part of this program. This
programs is a way to give back to the military men and women who have served
our country and also a way to get a deserving veteran dog into
loving hands. While a fun event kicked off this new program, it is
dependent on public donations to keep the program going. Please give
generously to the Pets to US Vets Program. Check out the smiles on
the faces of the newest "vets" who got lucky!
Local U S
Veterans Needed

The Brown family would like to thank the
Washington Area Humane Society for giving us the opportunity to
adopt “Taz” through the Pets for Vets program! When we found out
about the program, there was no question that we were taking a trip
to look at all the dogs up for adoption! After looking at a couple
dogs that we really liked, there was Taz carrying his ball around in
his cage- he wouldn’t put it down! That caught my eye, so we decided
to spend some time with Taz. After a few minutes or so, we fell in
love! He has a gentle and calm demeanor and is great with our 5 year
old, Mason. Taz enjoys taking daily walks, any chance to get outside
and play with his new family and to sniff and make friends with the
neighborhood dogs. We can’t wait to take him on camping trips next
summer- he’ll be great! Thanks again for the program and giving a
Veteran, and his family, the opportunity to adopt such a wonderful
addition to our family! Sincerely,
Scott, Shannon & Mason Brown |
